The "Matchmaking" Feature

JOIP provides you with the ability & helps you to find people whom you may have common interests with or may complement you in innovation or with people who can be good friends to you through a feature known as "Matchmaking".

First: how to reach the "Matchmaking" feature?

There are several "match me" buttons on your profile:

1. Under the network section in the left side menu in your profile:

Second: Matchmaking page Structure

The Matchmaking page includes the following:

1. Users that are automatically matched to me by the system using the matchmaking algorithm.
2. Filters to filter those users based on specific criteria.
3. "Diaspora only" checkbox, which when checked will only show users with:
   • A "Jordanian" nationality
   • Who are now working in a country other than Jordan
4. Sorting parameters to sort the users that resulted from the matching process and from the filtering process (if any is applied) in the matchmaking page.

Third: How the "Matchmaking" process works?

An algorithm called the "matchmaking algorithm" is applied here and it's as the following:

100 points are distributed over the following:  

1. 5 points are given to "Alumni":
   • 5 points for Users who have studied in the same University
   • 5 points for users who've studied in the same university and during the same years as the user.
2. 5 points to associates.
   • 5 points for users who've worked at the same place with me regardless of the time
   • Another 2.5 points for the users who work with me currently.
3. 10 points to collaborators in my works.
4. 15 points to similar ISAs
5. 10 points to complementary ISAs
6. 10 points to complementary roles
7. 20 points to Social Interactions:
   • 4 points to the people who follow me
   • 4 points to whom I follow (4 %)
   • 4 points to the people who bookmarked my profile & the ones I bookmarked.
   • 4 points to the people who bookmarked my works, or I bookmarked their works
   • 4 points to the people who viewed my profile or the ones I viewed their profiles
8. 5 points to the ones who have mutual friends with me.
9. 5 points to the people who have works types as mine
10. 5 points to the people who have ISAs added to their works as the ISAs I added to my works.

Fourth: the Actions I can perform on Contact cards in the matchmaking page

The matching results how in the "match me" page as contact cards:

And the actions you can perform on each contact card are as follows:

1. Visit this user's profile by clicking on his/her username or profile picture
2. Follow this user by clicking on the "follow" button.
3. Sending a connection request to this user by clicking on the "Connect" button.
4. Hovering the mouse cursor over the username in the contact card, which shows a popup that includes the following details:
   • Similarity %, the percentage of how the ISAs & roles of this user are similar to mine.
   • Complementarity%, the percentage of how this user's ISAs & roles complement my ISAs & roles.
   • The title of this user
   • The count of the recently added works.
